Horsemanship & Introductory Horseback Riding

Horsemanship Academy

The Fathom Collective believes every equestrian is a horse person first. Fathom hosts horsemanship academy series every six weeks, where your child will learn how to listen, lead, and care for the horse in preparation for riding or other endeavors.

Topics may include: learning a horse’s personality and reading their mood, brushing, mucking stalls, safe handling, basic wound care, wrapping legs, lunging, etc.

The horsemanship academy is a pre-requisite to any of our mounted classes.

Introductory Horseback Riding

Our introductory riding classes teach basic skills in proper balance, posture, and seat, as well as steering and the correct use of aids to communicate safely and appropriately with your mount at a walk. Riders may be introduced to the mechanics of trotting, which is central to our intermediate level classes.
